This year Energy Resources of Australia’s (ERA) dedicated Community Partnership Fund celebrates seven years of support for the Alligator Rivers region.

Andrea Sutton, ERA Chief Executive Officer said the fund aimed to contribute to the development of a healthy and positive community in the region.

“Over the last seven years ERA has contributed more than $250,000 in funds and in-kind donations to local West Arnhem sporting, community, education and cultural groups,” Ms Sutton said.

“The Fund has been an excellent platform for engagement with the local community and for building capacity, not dependency, in the region where we work”.

The Fund does not operate as a grants scheme; rather as a partnership programme aimed at developing joint venture projects and community actions which seek to assist all members of the community.

“By working together with local groups and organisations, the community is seeing terrific results,” Ms Sutton said.

“Preference has always been given to applications seeking support for projects which build meaningful partnerships with local business and communities, demonstrate they will add value to the local community, or enhance sustainable, educational and employment opportunities for the community.”

Projects and local organisations the Fund has supported in the past include the Kakadu Triathlon, Jabiru Health Clinic, Alligator Fishing Club, NT Breast Screening in Jabiru, Jabiru Golf Club, Jabiru Area School, Jabiru Childcare Centre, the Children’s Christmas Party, Jabiru Girl Guides, Gunbalanya school sports activities, and Kakadu Groove.

Applications for the current funding round close on 14 July 2017.
